"Kadod", One of the oldest town of Surat district, Gujarat, has history as old as Surat. It had such a special influence on the surrounding area that in the time of "Bardoli Satyagraha" Shree Sardar said in his speech at "Madhi" that "Do not think that "Satyagrah" will not be successful if Kadod is not joining us". Kadod was one of those three towns those responded lately to the Sardar's satyagrah because of its economical reasons. It was the center of timber business, Grocery Business and cloth business. After convincing those merchants that this Satygrah is not only for Farmers but it affects all of us, and this is a part of the freedom fight, Kadod joined the Satyagrah.
But after the independace it was ignored for like four decades, no improvements were done by the Government or what ever done Kadod was the last to get it. That affect the progress of Kadod.
But in the last decade Kadod gained a remarkable progress. In last ten years, By the efforts of Kadod Gram Panchayata, Kadod has changed his face. Now a days it has asfalt roads every where even there, where is an access road. Also it has build drainage system and a full staff of Safai Kamadars. Now a days there is street lights in all falias and on roads. It has its own water works. Thus Gram Panchayata has provided each basic Facilities to Kadodians without much government aid. Also Kadod has its own "Primary ealth Center" besides of five or six general practitioner doctors. Kadod also has one fully equipped Hospital - "Damodardas Gandhi Hospital" where many of the Kadodian born like me. but it is suffering from lake of fund and doctors. If there is any doctor who believe that his profession is not a business can contact the authorities..
To give a boost to local Market and to have a well organised local market, Gram panchayata has built Shakbhaji Market, Matan Market, and a shopping center. Which comprise of 5 shops and 25 sheds.
Surprisingly Kado Gram Panchayata is a comination of two panchayatas. One is for Kadod and Other is for "Minyawadi".( In reality there is no village named "Minyawadi". It was a outbound
of Kadod where most of the Kadod's farmers own their Farms, but its called government.)
